HOME SWEET HOME

DAY 15

TODAY I AM SO VERY THANKFUL THAT I HAVE A ROOF OVER MY HEAD. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST SO MUCH.

I LIVE IN KENTUCKY. I AM ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM THE INDIANA STATE LINE. BACK IN MARCH WE HAD A F5 TORNADO COME THROUGH. THERE IS A SMALL TOWN NEAR US IN INDIANA THAT WAS TOTALLY FLATTENED. EVERYTHING GONE. A LOT OF PEOPLE DIED. A MOTHER LOST HER LEGS HOVERING OVER HER CHILDREN PROTECTING THEM. IT WAS VERY SAD. IT ALWAYS HITS HOME WHEN IT IS SO CLOSE. IT REMINDS YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT INVINCIBLE. THESE PEOPLE ARE STILL REBUILDING. THEY ARE FORMING NEW HOMES.

RECENT EVENTS, THE HURRICANE SANDY, THE INDIANAPOLIS EXPLOSION. THINGS GET LOST. ONE DAY EVERYTHING IS A-OK, THE NEXT YOUR WHOLE LIFE CHANGED

THROUGH ALL OF THESE CHANGES I AM SO THANKFUL AND FEEL SO LUCKY THAT AT THE END OF THE DAY,  I HAVE A HOME TO COME HOME TO. MY KIDS HAVE A SAFE HAVEN. EVERYDAY I CAN'T WAIT TO GET HOME...AND WHEN I WALK THROUGH THE DOOR, I AM ALWAYS SO GLAD. I FEEL A SENSE OF RELIEF WHEN I ENTER.

  1. I am grateful as well. As a Floridian I sent good vibes to Sandy victims before the storm hit. I've have my life shattered several times due to hurricanes. I'm just thankful for the strength it has given me and that I was able to pull it all back together.

  2. We are in Indiana until Sunday, and I see the sirens around town. I can't imagine going through a tornado. Scary! I heard about that story about the mother losing her legs. She is a true hero in my eyes. Thank you for posting this. Great post in time for Thanksgiving. We all must be thankful for what we have at times like this especially.

  4. Yes, this is a great reminder for us to be thankful for what we have. During these calamities which are beyond our control, that's when I realize how God's hand can change things in just one click of a finger.

In that case, I always remember not to whine for things that are not going my way because others are undergoing maybe a much more difficult time than what most of us are dealing with..Thanks for sharing this!

  5. It's so important for us to be thankful for what we have! Today it seemed like the end of the world when my laptop had water spilled on it. But in the end it's just a laptop and has an easy solution. So many folks have lost so much recently. Thanks so much for the reminder not to take anything for granted!

  7. I remember hearing about that tornado. This is a great reminder to me, thank you! I complain about living in a small place, but in the end...I'm better off than many people in the world!
